ZOO RULEZ

A zoo poem I wrote just for kids.

Never laugh at our giraffe

or tickle butterflies,

sing no songs to those dugongs

don't mention hippo's size.

Please don't crow at buffalo

don't laugh if ibis sings,

never croon at that baboon

or gasp when possum swings.

Should the puma start a rumor

calling pig a pillow,

it's not funny, ask our bunny

or the armadillo.

Don't feed cakes to friendly snakes

or open bison's boxes,

never squawk at any hawk

or yell at flying foxes.

Should a dingo laugh and grin

go over to the yak,

make him smile or crocodile

will want his joke book back.

Don't you dare meet panda bear

unless he's feeling nice,

maybe you should bring bamboo

or go and see the mice.

Never bark at our aardvark

or shout at the anteater,

tell the bears that someone cares

but please don't kiss the cheetah.

Don't throw shoes at our poor gnus

that isn't pleasant, is it?

Stay behind all yellow lines

and please, enjoy your visit!
