TOKENS

Pulling a sweaty handle

the shiny wheels spin

and I find myself wishing

for the same silver tokens

as the ones that I always

deemed to be unworthy.

How then, to play this game?

To lose is not an option

Yet, in winning, one

must bond with the multitude.

All desire success

so why are so few

given three cherries?

Perhaps it is pure perception?

One’s window of loss

could be a jackpot

when viewed from

another dimension

in a different language.

I make no claim to be a philosopher

Yet, surely one’s return

is relative to the investment

in proportion to the wanting

(rather than the need)

which MUST be true

or all Biafrans would

feast on beef.
