A monster crawled from way long past my
bedtime,
he said that he had met my soul before;
then dragged
me to a future full of screaming
and whispered this would be forever
more.
Attempting to break free and head for
safety,
epiphany then barred me from retreat;
a stifled laugh was in my lame
surrender,
as retribution rained down on the
street.
Adrift with all my heroes in the gutter,
my prayers rebounded from a kerb of sin,
surrendering to tide I glimpsed Nirvana,
cascading past too fast to enter in.
