TEARS IN HER EYES

You can see her standing there

With the sunlight in her hair,

And she looks like any other modern girl;

She’s a Princess in a play,

She will laugh and run away,

Love is sweet and there’s a rainbow on the world.

But tonight, ah, tonight, she’ll find out about the lies,

And tonight, tonight there’ll be tears in her eyes.

See her laughing in the sun,

See her playing, having fun,

She can’t see the shadows on the wall;

In her carefree world today

All the clouds have blown away,

She can’t see what’s going on at all.

But tonight, ah, tonight, clouds will roam her darkened skies,

And tonight, tonight there’ll be tears in her eyes.

Love is blind, and the fools are always falling behind,

What to say? When you know she’s going down and you can’t stand in her way.

Don’t you say or do a thing,

Don’t you step into the ring,

It’s a game and she has to play her part;

There is nothing you can do

Or you’ll end up crying too,

Let her have today and please don’t break her heart.

‘Cos tonight, ah, tonight, you’ll know it’s broken when she cries,

And tonight, tonight there’ll be tears in her eyes.
