I begged for alms -
yet never knew my plight
prayed heavenward
to gods I could not see
succumbed to sin
and lost the will to fight
expecting que sera
would always be
Confessions so
effusive and contrite
were not enough to
pay my entrance fee
my eyes were banned
from witnessing the light
too precious for a
leper such as me
But then a star lit
up my shadowed height
an angel chorus
sang the sacred key
I cried into the
sky "I wish I might"
and fell into your
arms so gratefully
My darkness now
replaced by days of white
empowered by love's
electricity
more of
my sonnets
