Serengeti plains
are in my dreaming
Searing sun an
ochre orb of rueful
Lion eyes awake to
find me smiling
Singing tales of
sorrow.
Jackals gather
round a pool of lilies
Laughing at the
thought of new beginning
Riding on a
powdered horn of rhino
selling their
tomorrows.
Running with an
impi through the tundra
Single file and
loping chanting meekly
Creep up on the
enemy at dawn's light
Snuffing out their
totem.
Baring teeth and
snarling at the moonlight
Daring ancestors to
claim this victory
Safety in the
sympathy of numbers
Listening to bird
song.
