His kiss is like a flame

She can feel the heat

as she blushes under his gaze

but he keeps his distance

lest she burn away.

Every night he leaves her

in the darkness

Although he’s just around the corner

she frets until the morning

when his warm embrace

burns away the fears of the night.

She lights up as she sees him

and she is happy and warm

although she knows he will go away again.
