PHOENIX

colour me phoenix

 alchemize these grey ashes

 turn sunset to dawn

 redraw old portraits

 sepia-toned memories

need an artist's touch

 pastel my dreaming

 draw cirrus like lace curtains

across past chasms

 subtly shade my thoughts

 blow across my canvas mind

southern summer breeze

brush my empty lips

fill the void with soft crayon

fingerpaint my soul

 tattoo my starred heart

 animate this wasted skin

 colour me phoenix
