So many
tongues extend from lips
like lizards
eating flies,
with eyes
that swivel backwards, yet
they never
see she cries.
A crowing
crowd of carnivores
intent on
tasting meat,
their talon
words invade her skin
till she
admits defeat.
Those
ivory-towered ostriches
with noses in
the air,
a pride of
cats - or vampire bats?
they drive
her to despair.
A tidal wave
of taunts and tricks
engulfing one
so small,
alone against
this spiteful force
she's crashed
against the wall.
A darkened
room on lonely street
where
sunlight never shone,
the morning
light may one day come
but sadly,
she'll be gone.
