Fog, then rain
drops
touch my upturned eyes
as I see moon glow
nay, your face - a light
that haunts my sky
each night to watch and dream
perchance to seem to be
with you and live the theme
of you and I.
Why, the question
on my arid lips
though mist creeps slow
and weeping soft
as oft-sung
melodies
of kisses never
felt
and hearts that
heat and melt
despite the bite
of night-time
breeze.
Time, the hated
enemy of those
who carry spear
and mace
to face the
lonely hours
with dour and
hopeful smile
as precious
seconds tick away
another day that
begs for sleep
as mist comes
creeping
once again.
