MERMAID

Siren, nay, please hush your crooning,

salt-encrusted ears are burning,

Mermaid, yes you are a vision,

on my lonely, sad horizon,

Lady, still your magic whisper,

sailor navigating Vesper:

plug my ears, Lord, even deafen

me lest I succumb to Heaven,

take my legs, my arms, my breast,

that I may pass this Neptune's test,

Siren, go, and take the spectre

of your beauty from my vector,

lullaby of gentle maiden

to her bosom I am bidden,

lonely sailor knows it's wrong,

must embrace the Mermaid's song.
