When you wish upon a star,
London Bridge comes falling down;
Bo Peep's sheep have wandered far,
Jack has cracked another crown.
Spider lurks beside a Miss,
Hordes of children in a shoe;
Sprat's fat wife eats lard in bliss,
Mary's quite contrary too.
Tree top breaks and cradle falls,
Boy Blue blows a horny note;
Cow jumps over moon's white walls,
Blackbird pie sticks in the throat.
Carving squeals from three blind
mice,
Candle stick is hurdler's hell;
Simple Simon's pie so nice,
Pussy cat falls down the well.
Duke of York still hesitates,
Giant egg falls down to fry;
Ladies' chamber, Winkie waits,
Goosie Gander running by.
Old King Cole calls fiddlers three,
Polly puts the kettle on;
All these rhymes return to me,
Where have all the poets gone?
