GOD BYTES

sort of a modern-day agnostics poem

Why should God pick me to work a miracle upon?

I said (a) he can’t exist or (b) for now, he’s gone;

Modern life, so fast and full, no time for Godly stuff,

Bits and bytes, each day, all night, this world is pretty rough.

Seems to me, the people who insist that He is here

Talk as if afraid, yet they’re the ones with least to fear;

If He’s watching, surely He will know which ones are good,

(hopefully he sees me as a modern Robin Hood).

Not that I acknowledge the existence of a King,

Told through time to be the builder of, well...everything;

Proof, I need, I’m modern man, my days are dear to me,

Waste them in a shamefaced prayer to someone I can’t see?

If need be, I’ll text him, I refuse to drop to knees,

Sure, I have a bible, underneath those DVD’s;

One must have insurance, just in case you get it wrong,

Am I blessed? I clutch my chest and hear an angel’s song.
