EARTH'S PLIGHT

 A PANTOUM

In my mind’s darkest, blackest room

A flickering glimmer of light

It shines despite the constant gloom

The sadness of Earth’s plight

A flickering glimmer of light

A notion of hope and belief

The sadness of Earth’s plight

The suffering, evil and grief

A notion of hope and belief

To inspire me though daily I cry

The suffering, evil and grief

I beg of the Lord “Tell me why”

To inspire me though daily I cry

I look to my soul, ever free

I beg of the Lord “Tell me why”

But the answer I yet cannot see

I look to my soul, ever free

It shines despite the constant gloom

But the answer I yet cannot see

In my mind’s darkest, blackest room
