I won an
ocean cruiser playing poker,
out-bluffed
a Texas oilman with a two,
the next day
I received it from the broker,
a fifty-five
foot ketch (all-female crew).
We sailed
into the sun to find Nirvana,
an island
village bade us stay a while,
we lived on
rainbow fish and raw banana,
and every
night the girls would make me smile.
A cyclone
hit us in the Indian Ocean,
the crew and
I decided to get drunk,
I gave them
all a pay rise and promotion,
we rode it
out all curled up in my bunk.
In Bali I
incurred the Chieftain's rancor,
he sent the
war canoes to where we lay,
we waved a
quick goodbye and hauled the anchor,
his
Polynesian daughter stowed away.
Her skill at
giving massage was uncanny,
my aching
back she'd knead and stimulate
she made an
oil from native frangipani,
I quickly
moved her up to second mate.
We crossed
the date line, bound for San Francisco,
I sailed
right in and showed them Alcatraz,
the girls
preferred the bright lights of a disco
to learning
history and all that jazz.
We sailed to
Greece to view the latest Royals,
the Prince
displayed his lovely bride-to-be,
she came
aboard, alone, with olive oils,
by dark of
night we headed out to sea.
The island
we discovered we called "Heaven,"
we cut the
boat adrift, its job was done,
the girls
and I a party of eleven,
we shunned
our clothes and bowed before the Sun.
I'm not an
Einstein or Aristotle,
my theory is
I'm double-luck star-crossed,
and, should
you get this message in a bottle,
don't bother
searching - we're not really lost!
