 REDDIT ME:

Cheerleader love poem by Australian writer Graeme King - ©kingpoetry2007.

CHEERLEADER

I watched the breeze trifle with your things on the clothes line - trying not to notice but damn! They waved at me like cheerleaders at a final home game: those sky blue knickers that cast the very first spell on me.

Storm skies. Sultry summer. Short skirt. Long legs. Skin like a cream biscuit. You were Disneyland and I bought a season ticket. Remember?

A cool breeze heralded winter's advent and wrapped me in its brown coat when I finally summoned the nerve to say hello. Your smile turned my world to eternal summer and I couldn't sleep.

The winds of maturity blew our lives apart but I never ever forgot that skin on your long, lovely legs, painted on by a perfectionist who knew all about texture, and feel.

I laugh to recall our efforts...blowing clouds of steam in the Chicago winter as we tried for the fortieth time to create our joint masterpiece. Do you remember? Do you laugh?

I now look back on life and see the storms of change that howled through the nooks and crannies of a soul trying to survive and be happy. Change.

Everchange, with three constants:

your gorgeous legs

the fall breeze

our lifetime together.

Three inspirations, and a trinity that gods die for.
