 REDDIT ME:

Baa Baa Black Sheeo - a funny sonnet by Australian writer Graeme King - with a different take on the nursery rhyme. ©kingpoetry2007.

BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP

a stonnet (a sonnet that tells a well-known story)

Back to Main Stonnets Index

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!
One for the master, one for the dame,
And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

Heads up, my boys, a wool deal's going down

I made a triple score - three bags of fleece

and stashed it on the other side of town

away from nosy neighbors and police.

I've organized a bag to go out West

the Master has agreed to pay what's due

I tell you, boys, this shipment is the best

and that old Dame has put her hand up, too.

The last bag full is for our patch, right here

you all know what to do to make a score

get out there on the streets and push the gear

one try of this black wool and they'll want more.

Hit every Tom and Harry, Dick and Jane

and don't forget that kid way down the lane.
